"Bella Valle" Farm Holidays and Surroundungs...Famous Places, Historical Town and Art Cities
We are very close to the seaside, known as the Etruscan Coast. The name promises interesting visits to the archaeological sites located throughout the area. For example, the Villa Guerrazzi archaeological museum is only 800 metres from the country home.
For spending time at the beach, there is a wide range of choice to suit your needs and those of your children:
- the beach at Gorette, where the renowned sand dunes can be seen among the bushes at the edge of the Mediterranean pine forest;
- the promontory at Capo Cavallo, which is very windy and the remaining outposts from the second world war can be seen, albeit half submerged;
- the gravel beaches at Mazzanta, with deeper sea beds;
- the beaches at Tesorino, characterised by their fine sand and very shallow sea beds;
- the White Beaches, very renowned among those who appreciate sunbathing and blue crystalline waters similar to the Caribbean; there is also a kite surfing and windsurfing school here.
There are several kilometres of beaches, most still freely accessible, but there are also fully equipped beaches managed by individuals or by the local council.
If you want to go for a drive, Caletta is located eight kilometres to the north, with its brand new Cala de’ Medici port, near Castiglioncello, a renowned swimming area with its characteristic inlet, seafront esplanade and the famous Baia del Quertcetano.
Towards the south, there are also beaches at Marina di Cecina, Marina di Bibbona and Donocratico, where the “Il Cavallino Matto” games park is located. These places can all be reached in a few minutes on the motorway.
There are interesting villages and medieval hamlets in the hinterland, which can provide guests with a feel of the real Tuscany: Montescudaio, Guardistallo and Casale M.mo are all less than 10 minutes away.
The town of Volterra is about 40 minutes away, with its major archaeological museum at Guarnacci and its beautiful historical centre; San Gimignano, with its world famous medieval towers, and Pisa, with Piazza dei Miracoli and the Leaning Tower, and obviously Florence.
If you are based on our estate, you can easily explore the “Wine Trails”, discovering the new DOC wines produced under the name Terratico di Bibbona and also visit the famous wine cellars at Bolgheri. The areas around Castagneto Carducci and Montescudaio, further to the north, are also worth visiting.
We hope we have provided all the information you may need to have a pleasant stay with us!
